The Last Text

The victim’s phone was found in the alley, screen cracked, a single text unsent.

“I know who you are.”

Detective Jonah Reed stared at the words. Who was the message meant for?

The victim, Daniel Grayson, had been a bartender. No criminal record, no known enemies. But someone had wanted him dead.

Reed tapped the screen.

The phone died, battery drained.

He turned to his partner. “Get the number he was texting.”

Minutes later, the tech team traced it.

The registered owner?

Detective Jonah Reed.

His own name. His own number.

His blood ran cold.

Daniel had been trying to warn him—before he died.
