The Elevator That Went Nowhere

Theo worked the night shift at the Echo Towers hotel. At 3:07 AM, the service elevator lit up on the screen—Floor 13.

There was no Floor 13.

He checked the CCTV. The doors opened, but no one was inside. The button panel glowed ominously. He hesitated, then took the stairs, but when he reached where the floor should have been, he found only a blank concrete wall.

The next night, the same thing happened. This time, the elevator doors wouldn’t close until he stepped inside. The moment he did, the lights flickered. The doors shut.

When they opened again, the hotel lobby was gone. In its place was a dimly lit hallway with peeling wallpaper and a single, echoing whisper:

“Welcome back.”
