The Sun Burns

Hi everyone! This is my first post that I’m making on this app and I’m excited to join. I wrote this poem, not sure if it’s any good or not. It’s my first poem. I enjoy reading poems, but I don’t have any experience writing them.

The Sun Burns

I watch the sun burn,
Wishing for a turn.
It denies me the pleasure,
But still gives me a treasure.
The treasure of its light, that I did not earn.
I watch the sun burn,
Wishing to learn
Quietly I ask the sun, ‘Why are you so kind?’
To which the sun replies, ‘Child, why is this thought on your mind?’
Her voice holds great might; it makes my heart churn.
I watch the sun burn,
Now with growing concern.
‘You burn in the sky and watch us all thrive.’
The sun seems to smile softly, ‘I must suffer in the sky, so that you can survive.’
My heart no longer churns,
My mind no longer feels concern.
I am grateful, as I watch the sun burn.
And I no longer want a turn.
